About Version 4.1 of the ISWorld Net Faculty Directory

After a year's worth of experience with the completely redesigned and rewritten software, we have made a few emergency corrections, and had accumulated a small backlog of desirable changes.  In addition, a number of the planned features intended for V4.0 had not been completed.  This revision is mostly not visible; we correct a few things and greatly improve facilities for regional administrators who review, modify, and approve requests.  If we did our work correctly this will be the last revision under my direction—some time within the next two years someone else will take over operation of the directory.

About Version 4.0

This fourth version of the directory system continues and extends the cooperative effort of researchers and volunteers in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa.  This complete redesign and rewrite was supported by a grant from AIS.  The Directory software and operation remains a product of the MISRC and Information and Decision Sciences Department of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.  Professor J. David Naumann was responsible for the original concept, and continues to design, write, and test the database, html,  and code.

Jan DeGross has always been and continues to be the key person involved with the contents of the directory.  She developed the original data set, maintained the original database, and from 1983 through 1995, published the printed directories from which this system is descended.  Jan reviews every record and revision that enters the directory.  Her knowledge of the MIS field and its people has been absolutely critical to the quality of the directory contents during its first seven years. (The ISWorld Faculty Directory first began operation on June 1, 1995.)

The influence of Gordon Davis continues to pervade this directory, as it does the MIS field. His participation and coordination have made this a global resource.

The directory would not have been possible without the continuing support of Blake Ives, who saw its value to our community of scholars, and supported its integration with ISWorld and AIS.
